Tommy Stiles dies in plane crash

Tommy Stiles, a former Bassmaster touring pro and Bassmaster Classic qualifier, has passed away in a plane crash. Stiles was 49 years of age.

Stiles competed in B.A.S.S. events from 1997 to 2005, qualifying from the 2003 Bassmaster Classic on the Louisiana Delta. He stepped away from professional events to spend more time with his wife and two daughters. During his career he fished a total of 57 B.A.S.S. events, finishing in the money in 30 percent of those efforts, including a 9th place finish in the 2003 Bassmaster Tour event on Lake Hamilton, Ark.

Stiles, the president of A.W. Stiles Contractors, was known for his love of fishing and flying, He was a licensed pilot.
