When things appeared dismal, David Walker broke through with first tournament victory
Even before the Bassmaster Elite Series season finale began last week, Kevin VanDam garnered an award.

This one was a little different, for me anyway. I found a 20- to 30-acre pond off the main lake with deep water and a ton of structure and cover in practice. It was hard to get into but looked real good.
This win takes a huge weight off of my shoulders. I don’t have to crunch numbers or ask what if anymore. I’m in.
I wound up ninth place in Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year points, and only the Top 8 are automatically entered into All-Star Week. However, I’m not sunk yet.
Missing the Top 50 cut is not my idea of a strong performance. I’m especially frustrated with how it all happened.
