Marshal Memories: Learning and laughs on the Elite trail

By Lawson Tilghman

I was a Bassmaster Marshal multiple times during the 2017 Bassmaster Elite Series. I am 16 years old, and this was such a great learning time for me. I was lucky enough to get some fun anglers, and I cannot wait to Marshal again.

It was so neat to watch each angler prepare the morning of the tournament. Most of them would talk about what they were planning to do that day. It was so cool to watch their individual fishing techniques. I learned a lot from watching how they would fish different lures. They were all nice enough to even answer some of my questions throughout the day. Taking photos of them and sending their catch information to the BASSTrakk system was neat too. It was cool to see my name show up later on the website as the Marshal that sent in the photo.

I learned a lot about how each lake fishes differently, and it was awesome to see how each angler would make adjustments when they weren’t catching anything. Some of my favorite times were with Todd Faircloth and Marty Robinson. They both kept me laughing throughout the day. These guys are down to earth and so nice. I can’t wait for 2018!
