Kayak angler spotlight: Greg Blanchard

Greg Blanchard is 31 years old and currently resides in Northern California working as a physical therapist. Greg grew up and spent the first 25 years of his life in Seneca Falls, N.Y. — a small town but with plenty of fishing opportunities.

He began fishing at the age of 4 with his grandfather along the banks, docks and any fishing access point they could find. That was the start of Gregs’ passion for bass fishing, and it has been with him ever since.

In 2012, Greg was spending the week with his family at a rental lake house, and on a whim he decided to try fishing out of the small kayaks from the side yard. He remembers weaving in and out of docks, getting into tight spaces and catching more fish in that little kayak than he ever did from the bank.

Fast forward to 2020, and you’ll find Greg in his Native Watercraft Titan kayak fully equipped with a motor, eight rods and a 10-inch graph. Despite the evolution of Gregs’ kayak and gear, his passion for bass fishing and now tournament fishing is as strong as ever. Greg has currently fished nearly 60 tournaments spanning the country since 2014 and has won 14 tournaments with a remarkable 40 top 10 finishes.

One unique thing about Greg is that when he began kayak fishing, he also started recording and uploading his fishing adventures on YouTube. His YouTube channel has evolved over the years, but it continues to show Greg’s love and passion for fishing.

To this date, Greg is one of the most recognized kayak fisherman in the industry and has become a true ambassador for the growing sport of kayak fishing.
