Horton’s 365-question challenge

What do you do for short strikes? How do you fish standing timber? What’s the best soft plastic color?

If you’ve got a question about bass fishing, Bassmaster Elite Series pro Timmy Horton is on standby to answer it.

Horton started a series of videos on his Facebook page called THO 365 at the beginning of the year. He challenged himself to answer a question from a fan every single day of 2015. He’s halfway through the year now and has produced more than 180 short videos for fans.

“There were so many people asking me questions on Facebook,” said Horton, “and it was so hard to get to every one of them. So I decided to turn it into a fun thing and really make the fans part of it.”

His first few efforts were daily fishing tips, but then the questions flowed in and now he never lacks for material.

“I don’t even get tired of it,” said Horton. “The response from fans has been so great. That makes it worth it and keeps me motivated.”

Horton’s production company for his TV show, Timmy Horton Outdoors (THO), films and produces the videos. Sometimes they shoot several at a time to accommodate those days when he’s in tournaments and can’t create the videos.

The questions he gets run the gamut from how to use fishing electronics to how to fish a specific lake to — er … — boxers or briefs?

“That was the funniest one,” said Horton with a laugh. “I also got one about what hairstyle an angler should wear that’s ladylike but good for being on the water all day.”

The questions have been great so far, he said, and Horton still has half a year left in his quest.
