Daily Limit: Come one, come all, join JoeLee fishing on Zona LIVE

Mark Zona's walleye catch brought in a smallmouth that Jordan Lee enticed as they checked spots for Wednesday's Zona LIVE.

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Step right up ladies and gentleman! The class clown of bass fishing and world champion invite you to run away and join the circus.

The big show of Zona LIVE presented by Mercury is taking to Lake St. Clair, site of last week’s Advance Auto Parts Bassmaster Elite. There will be fun for all ages as Mark Zona and 2017 Bassmaster Classic champ Jordan Lee fish this Wednesday for a webcast from 8 a.m. to noon ET on Bassmaster.com.

Roll up, roll up, because the most awesome show on earth is sending out personal invitations to anyone wanting to sit up close and be spellbound with amazement. The Zona LIVE crew expects to leave St. Clair Metropark and head out onto St. Clair well before the button is switched on at 8 a.m.

“We’re inviting the circus to come out and be a part of the show,” Zona said of the third installment of Zona LIVE. “We were going to do this Zona LIVE on ‘Unbelievable Lake’ outside of town – unbelievable in how good it is.

“And it may be an epic mistake not doing it there, as bad as the guys leaned on them in St. Clair, but there were so many fishing fans out there calling for us to do it on St. Clair.”

The renowned smallmouth fishery showed out during the Elite event, with Jason Christie winning on Sunday with an incredible 88 pounds, 8 ounces. Lee, who finished fourth with 82-4, had threatened to set a four-day weight record for smallmouth as he averaged 23 pounds over the first three days before faltering on Day 4.

“I talked to some of the folks at B.A.S.S, some of the crew and Jordan,” Zona said, “and everybody said, ‘Let’s go have fun.’ Win, lose or draw – we catch them, we don’t catch them – let’s go have fun fishing around a bunch of fishing people.”

Zona said he expects the same type of “circus” crowds that showed out for the Elites, when one community hole had 50 boats around with several of the spectators fishing. For anybody who comes out, Zona says cast away.

“And if they catch them, we’re encouraging them to bring them by the boat after 11 a.m. and we’ll take pictures of them,” Zona said. “We’re going to have fun with the folks fishing out there on St. Clair.

“Sure, we want to catch them, like we do on every live, but this is more to interact with Jordan, with the people who are out there. And hopefully everybody catches a big smallmouth.”

The show will be Zona’s third of four planned episodes this year. The first one featured Greg Hackney on Grosse Savanne in Louisiana then Kevin VanDam and Zona put on a spectacular fish-catching show on a small lake near their Michigan homes.
