Chapman’s boat raffle a success

Pictured from left to right is Kansas B.A.S.S. Nation president Joel Porter; Bassmaster Elite Series angler Brent Chapman; the boat winner Tom Spurling; and from Folds of Honor Kelli Campbell.

The idea to raffle Elite angler Brent Chapman’s boat, came from seeing what Randy Howell has been doing the last several years with his boat and King’s Home.

The Kansas B.A.S.S. Nation approached Brent and Bobby Chapman to see it they would be interested in such a venture, and they agreed. The plan was to raffle his 2017 tournament boat, a Triton 22 TRX with a Mercury 250 Pro XS, Power Poles, Garmin Electronic and all the bells and whistles that the top anglers are known for using.

We hoped to sell 1,000 tickets for a $100 donation per ticket, with the idea to give the three charities below $10,000 or more each:

  • Folds of Honor provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members.
  • Kansas Food Bank provides comprehensive and compassionate HungerCare whenever and wherever needed in the state of Kansas.
  • Fishing’s Future works to reconnect kids to nature, reconnect kids to family, strengthen family relationships, teach environmental stewardship and increase awareness for the protection, conservation and restoration of our nation’s aquatic natural resources. Also to increase participation in recreational angling.

When ticket sales ended on Oct. 31 we had raised enough to give; Folds of Honor $10,000; Kansas Food Bank $10,000 and Fishing’s Future $4,000. It was a little short of our goal but still a success in our eyes.

Thanks to all who helped this great project.
