BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — As spring segues into summer, it’s an ideal time to enjoy the outdoors, particularly with the right blend of entertainment. The Evan Williams Bourbon Concert Series, in conjunction with the Bassmaster Elite Series Douglas Lake Challenge tournament, combines bass fishing allure with a high-energy concert on Saturday, May 5, at The Point Resort in Dandridge, Tenn.

After top B.A.S.S. pros weigh in their daily catches and sign autographs for fans, the band Bush Hawg will take the stage. The music of the Nashville-based recording artist brings together elements of country and hard rock.

Craig Hand, lead singer of Bush Hawg, said the band members have long been outdoorsmen.

“I grew up in St. Augustine, Fla., and I spent a lot of time bass fishing as a kid,” Hand said. “A lot of us hunt and fish, so it’s exciting for us to do this.”

The public is invited to the Douglas Lake Challenge, May 3-6, where all events, including the concert, are free. Daily launches and weigh-ins will be held at The Point Resort, 122 Boat Dock Drive, Dandridge, Tenn., 37725. The pros will launch at 6:30 a.m., and weigh-in begins at approximately 3:15 p.m. ET.

A family-friendly expo will include B.A.S.S. sponsor interactive displays on Saturday and Sunday and on-water demos featuring the Mercury Power of Champions Tour, the Triton Demo Tour, Yamaha’s 2012 Discover VMAX SHO Demo tour and Nitro Boat demo rides. Local vendors will have food and beverages available for purchase. Free off-site shuttle parking will be available at West Main Street and Cherokee Drive.

The Evan Williams Bourbon Concert Series kicked off at the Bassmaster Classic in February. As it continues, Bush Hawg will play the Bassmaster Elite Series Toldedo Bend Battle in Many, La., June 7-10 and the Toyota Trucks All-Star Week on Lake Shelbyville in Decatur, Ill., Sept. 20-23.
