Fishing shallow in the cold

The common perception among bass anglers when consistently cold weather sets in is that the only way to get a bite is to head to deeper water where groups of bass hunker down for the winter until spring rolls around.

But while Jason Christie knows there are plenty of schools to be found in deeper holes, the five-time Bassmaster Elite Series champion recognizes many of the bigger bass in any given fishery reside in 8 feet of water or less, and he isn’t afraid to cruise the bank in search of wintertime lunkers.
