Pro dropshotting tips

Brett Hite of Arizona said many anglers who wouldn't use a dropshot just five years ago are finally coming around to it. Photo by Gary Tramontina

Count Brett Hite among the original power trio who pushed the drop shot to national prominence. Hite, along with fellow Western pros Aaron Martens and Kota Kiriyama, embraced the new finesse technique as soon as it landed on the Pacific Coast, and the three men are still overwhelmingly considered fathers of the technique. Especially interesting about Hite is that he’s the true desert drop shotter among the three, due to his Phoenix, Ariz., upbringing and immediate proximity to the Rio Salado, Salt River and Colorado River chains.
