Gear Up: GoPro Hero8 Black Camera

What is it?

The name GoPro has become synonymous with amazing action videos captured in all kinds of crazy places and scenarios. From mountaintop to lake bottom, ski slope to sand dune, and everywhere in between, if people are doing awesome things, they are capturing it on a GoPro camera.

What sets it apart?

While GoPro has since released two more recent models (the Hero9 and Hero10), the Hero8 Black is not far behind in terms of features and video/image quality. The HyperSmooth 2.0 video stabilization is amazing and makes bouncy videos smooth and enjoyable to watch. And you can shoot video in 4K, so the detail is sharp and the quality is high. And when you take into account that it has four digital lenses, multiple time-lapse and photo modes, the ability to accept external light and mic options (sold separately), plus the fact that it is impact-resistant and waterproof to 33 feet, the Hero8 packs a formidable punch at a lower price.

How do I use it?

Once you familiarize yourself with the features of your Hero8 Black, you just need to find an adventure and point the GoPro at the action! There are two buttons (power and shutter), and the rest is done on the touch screen. Select your camera mode and dial it in for your desired shot. There are many different ways to mount the camera to yourself or your equipment to get the best angles and perspectives. The only limit is your creativity.

Adventurtunity Family’s insight:

We have been using our GoPro Hero8 Black cameras to document and capture our travel adventures. We use the footage to create videos for our YouTube and Instagram channels and absolutely love the ability to mount and take the camera anywhere. Whether we’re rafting down a river, taking our Jeep off-road, hiking amazing trails or just enjoying a beautiful sunset next to a campfire, we capture it all with our Hero8s. We love that it is small and compact, can go anywhere (wet or dry) and is rugged enough to survive bangs and bumps along the way. And the video quality is awesome!
