Gear Review: St. Croix Mojo Bass TRIGON

WHAT IS IT?

St. Croix Mojo Bass TRIGON

WHAT SETS IT APART?

TRIGON’s design is based on actual anthropometric data of the human hand. St. Croix engineers and designers recognized the human hand does not form a circle when closed. Instead, TRIGON conforms to the angler instead of the angler having to conform to the rod. TRIGON features a curved, triangular profile with a rounded inner apex and a flattened top curve. The results are a more comfortable grip so anglers can fish longer while exercising increased control to maximize power and accuracy. The next-generation Mojo Bass TRIGON expands to 34 models – 25 casting and nine spinning – so you can choose from a rod that fits any angling style.

HOW DO I USE IT?

Specifically engineered for hardbait applications like crankbaits and jerkbaits, Mojo Bass TRIGON reaction bait models are constructed of 100% Linear S-Glass to produce rods with the softer, moderate actions required by such presentations. There are two dedicated Bass Finesse System (BFS) models, offering finesse capability to anglers who prefer casting to spinning rods and reels. Those are ideal for today’s increasing lineup of downsized jerkbaits, crankbaits, spinnerbaits and bladed jigs. You can choose from three dedicated swimbait models featuring the GRASP handle.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

Everything looks the same as my favorite Mojo Bass rods except the handle, which is a game changer. St. Croix partnered with a renowned industrial designer to validate the ergonomics that make TRIGON unique. The noticeable result, for me, is greater hand-to-blank alignment. I felt and notice the improved lure control when casting at targets. The flattened top curve felt more comfortable in my casting hand, adding pleasing ergonomics.

Why hasn’t anyone thought of this before in this world of ergonomically correct everything? It took none other than St. Croix to provide the answer in due time. It came as a result of St. Croix’s commitment to deep diving into a goal, like the company always does, by applying cutting-edge science, engineering and practical angling knowledge in all of their rods.
