HOW DO I USE IT?

A ruggedly built pant doesn’t always require stiff, itchy fabric to stand up to the elements. Like the name implies, the Simms Rogue Softshell Pants deliver comfort and warmth in a technical design that makes you want to wear them daily. You get wind-blocking comfort with breathable protection from the chill and dampness with the DWR treated fabric.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

Initially I considered just wearing these pants for doing chores on chilly days. I’ve worn a pair of canvas pants for such tasks, as they are intended for rugged wear. Canvas pants have their place, but overall, they’re not comfortable and usually only worn for the heavy-duty lifting. I’ve now switched to the Rogue Softshell Pants as they add all-day comfort with the fleece knit interior fabric. Another benefit is the added range of motion, which can apply to doing chores and even fishing.

On the flip side of the wardrobe equation, the Rogue Softshell Pants are ideal for fishing on chilly days. You get legitimate wind protection without the added bulk, and your britches don’t get soaked if a chilly splash breaks over the bow of the boat. The same applies for kayak angling when you’re more prone to get splashed. The extra stretch and range of movement are noticeable in the tight confines of a kayak.

Simms is known for integrating technical features that aren’t overly done — think cargo pants with bulky pockets. The Rogue Softshell Pants deliver with smoothly integrated zippered pockets that aren’t too big; in fact, it’s like they are barely noticeable, which makes them wearable out on the town for date night or other social occasions.

The name really sums it all up. The pants are of rogue design and are different than any other pair you’ll put on. What is more, the softshell fabric makes them comfortable to wear all day and into the evening. Put ‘em on and you’ll not want to take them off.
