Gear Review: SEVIIN GS Spinning Reel

WHAT IS IT?

SEVIIN GS Spinning Reel

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Available in five versatile sizes from 750 to 3000, with 5.2:1 and 6:1 gear ratios, the SEVIIN GS Spinning Reel features a 6 + 1 stainless-steel bearing system, along with a precision-hobbed hard brass pinion and die-cast helical gear drive for smooth, powerful operation. A stacked carbon and stainless-steel drag, instant anti-reverse and S-Curve design add to the performance and durabilty. The latter feature provides a super-slow oscillation (the spool’s up and down motion) to ensure even line stacking for longer casts and fewer line management problems. Moreover, the internal support guide maintains spool oscillation consistency at all drag levels.

HOW DO I USE IT?

Expanding its breakthrough reel introduction, which began with the GF baitcasting reel, SEVIIN continues the innovation with its GS Spinning Reel. Ensuring maximum rigidity with a feathery essence, the reel is made with a lightweight carbon body, side plates and rotor. Fitting the external form with a lightweight aluminum handle and spool, SEVIIN delivers dependable performance that’s strong on user comfort, but easy on the wallet. SEVIIN’s interest in aesthetics are visible in the logo placement, accent colors and anodizing, while function abounds in elements such as spool angles, handle bracing, the machined aluminum handle cap and the reel’s foot and stem design.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

While SEVIIN is its own unique entity, which cleverly plays off its namesake Roman numeral, this new brand clearly benefits from the tradition, tooling and track record inherent to St. Croix’s seven decades of design and manufacturing expertise, industry-leading customer service and unbroken private ownership by the Schluter family dating back to 1977. What that means to the angler is meticulous engineering, rock-solid dependability and a commitment to quality.
