WHAT SETS IT APART?
Costa celebrates the 10th anniversary of its legacy Whitetip frames with an all-new dynamic fit for all fishermen and women. Whitetip PRO is the seventh and final introduction to the PRO family of frames, joining Blackfin PRO and Fantail PRO as the originators in the series.
Whitetip PRO boasts a more modern design with added performance features, while giving a nod to its well-loved predecessor. Whitetip PRO keeps the same proportions, while adding six updated technical features, all rigorously tested by full-time fishing guides, captains and tournament anglers.
Those six standout features keep frames locked in place in rough water, reduce fogging to maintain clear vision, and redirect sweat to focus on what matters the most — catching fish. Combined with a lightweight frame, the tech features noticeably reduce eye fatigue and prevent eye damage from sun exposure on the water.
You get more than a pair of polarized sunglasses with the benefits of 580G glass technology. That includes the best clarity with six encapsulated mirrors that are scratch proof, and are 20% thinner and 22% lighter than average polarized glass. The C-Wall coating creates a barrier that repels water, oil and sweat for easy cleaning. Absorbing HEV light causing macular degeneration and other eye diseases is another benefit, while providing 100% UV light protection.
HOW DO I USE IT?
It’s the little things that add up to make the PRO series go beyond existing as a pair of shades. Take a closer look and you’ll find the three-hole scoop that helps prevent fogging, the sweat channels and eyewear drains, side shields, hooding and stickier Hydrolite on the temples with metal keeper slots. The sum of the whole is an enhanced vision experience on the water.
That experience is even more enhanced with the six 580G lens colors that are designed for specific ranges of light conditions. For style, you can choose from Matte Tortoise, Matte Gray and Matte Black frames that are matched with specific lens colors. Need Rx lenses? You’re in luck. Whitetip PRO is available in single vision and progressive lenses.
Whitetip PRO is available with Costa’s new Gold Mirror 580 Lens designed with a lighter Visible Light Transmission. Enhanced versatility across a spectrum of light conditions is the advantage of VLT. You get optimal clarity whether out on the water in the bright sun or in overcast conditions. The scratch-resistant lenses effectively reduce haze and blur, while boosting essential colors for superior definition.
Whitetip PRO, the smallest frame size in the series, defines Costa’s commitment that one frame does not fit all face shapes and sizes. The Gold Mirror 580G lenses are a game changer, and I can back up that fact as a faithful Costa wearer since the 1980s. The distinctive rose base provides a vision appealing natural contrast boost within the encapsulated gold mirror finish. You get a strikingly noticeable clearer range of vision in variable light conditions between partial and full sun.
I favor a minimalist approach to lenses that condition my eyes (and brain) to be accustomed to similar colors. Gold Mirror 580G lenses check off all the boxes. I get enhanced clarity across a varying spectrum of light. What is more, I have found myself putting them on in morning twilight before previously waiting until after the sun rises for sunglass time.
The smaller frame size of Whitetip PRO also aligns with the same Medium size frames I wear daily with my prescription Costa Ocean Ridge 410 glasses. That’s a huge plus if you wear prescription eyeglasses, having the ability to align everyday eyewear fit with sunglasses.
