Man, I just can’t seem to get off the “3-4” train in this season’s T-H Marine Pick ‘em contest. To make matters worse, I completely forgot to hit the “Save” button after making my picks last week. That’s the second time this season that has happened, but since these predictions are all posted here at Bassmaster.com, trust me when I say, I am now 18-24 on the season. Not something to be proud of, but still, I own it!
So he we go, the beginning of a huge second half turnaround for T-H Marine Bassmaster Pick ‘Em Challenge!
In Match 1, we get the leaders in AOY and ROY, who happen to be 1-2 in the AOY standings right now. I love what Caleb Hudson in doing, and he looks like he will lap the field in the Rookie of the Year race, but to go against Trey McKinney right now seems just insane. And I’m not insane.
Match 2 pits a couple of former Santee-Cooper champs, Drew Cook and Luke Palmer. My inclination here is to go with Palmer, but based on my results so far, I will go against my inclination and take Drew Cook.
Match 3 brings us Justin Atkins and Lee Livesay, guys who have been close in the past here. Atkins is currently 5th in the AOY standings and is fishing great this season. I believe in momentum, so I believe in Justin Atkins in this one.
Match 4 brings us a couple of rookie hammers in Pake South and Fisher Anaya. Anaya has already won on the Elites, and South has crushed a couple of Opens this season. Fisher Anaya has been a bit more consistent, and he’ll rule the roommate house when this one is done.
Match 5 features a couple of vets in Steve Kennedy and Mark Menendez. Kennedy is off to a brutal start this season while Menendez is currently safely above the relegation line in 59th in the AOY standings. Mark Menendez is the pick here.
Match 6 is Carl Jacobsen and Nick Trim. Trim is fighting for his Elite life while Carl is having a sneaky decent season. He is hanging just below the Classic Cut line, and I believe he’ll be in even better shape when this one is over. I’ve got Carl Jocumsen.
And finally, in Match 7, we get Yokohama Pros Logan Parks and Brandon Palaniuk. Famously, Palaniuk never wants to know what the AOY standings are, but suffice to say, he is well in front of Parks this season. That gap will widen this week. Brandon Palaniuk is the pick.
Sure feels like a 7-0 week to me! I am nothing if not optimistic. The next cast is always a 10-pounder! Good luck to all this week!
