Robertson and Martin’s Chickamauga charge

Catch up with Matt Robertson and Scott Martin on day two of the Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at Chickamauga Lake.
Robertson entered day two in third place with 21-13.
He started his morning fishing open waters, fan casting around flats.
He was changing up baits periodically, trying to get a feel for what the fish will react to this morning.
This selection was a bigger swim bait.
With a slow start, Robertson decides to make a move.
His next spot is similar. For now, he is keeping the same pattern, but moving quickly from spot-to-spot.
Stop number three of the morning and Robertson still has an empty livewell.
But, it’s still very early.
Robertson swings on one.
But it comes off. “It is what it is”, Robertson says.
Time to move again. Robertson isn’t wasting any time in search for a bite, fishing as efficient as possible.
Shortly after arriving to his next spot, he hooks up. But, this one is not a keeper.
Robertson eventually makes a move to the other end of the river, making a long drive. This move ends up being beneificial for him later in the afternoon.
Later in the morning I caught up with Scott Martin who caught a nine plus pounder shortly before my arrival.
As I approached Martin, he was site fishing for a bedding bass.
Martin works on this fish for at least 20 minutes.
Before deciding to move on and possibly come back later.
Martin continues to search the bank for visible fish, attempting to duplicate his previous catch.
He switches between vrious baits as he meets different structures along the bank.
Martin eventually backs off the search for visible fish as the cloud cover effects his ability to see fish.
He targets various structures such as docks, rocks, and submerged wood.
He aslo picks up a popular bait choice for this week.
Martin moves quickly, covering a lot of bank.
Without much luck in this area, he decides to pack up and make a move.
After some reorganization Martin fishes another quick area before making a long run.
Stick around for Martins outcome at the day two weigh in of the 2022 Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at Chickamauga Lake.
