Foutz finds ’em on Day 1

After a stellar start to the morning, Jacob Foutz jumped into the Top 10 on BassTrakk. The Elite Series rookie has registered back-to-back top 30 finishes at Chickamauga and Fork, so he’s got the momentum rolling.
Shortly after we pulled up to Foutz, he hooked up with a good fish.
This fish went into BassTrakk as a four pounder, which propelled him into the Top 3 unofficially.
Unlike a lot of offshore schools of fish, catching a bass didn’t seem to fire up the rest of the school. The Tennessee pro would go 20 minutes or more in between bites.
Early in the morning, Foutz mentioned that he was able to find the fish stacked up in one small area, and was able to load the boat one cast after another.
Every 10-20 casts, Foutz switched to a different bait in hopes of firing the school back up.
Fellow Elite Series rookie Matty Wong was fishing the same offshore spot, but wasn’t having the same luck as Foutz.
About 45 minutes after making a solid cull, Foutz hooks up with another good fish.
Another solid cull for the first year Elite.
Just moments after Foutz hooked up, Wong also hooks up.
Unfortunately, it’s the wrong species.
Both Wong and Foutz talked back and forth to compare notes, but eventually Wong decides it’s probably best to check in on some of his other areas.
Foutz continued to work over the area, but seemed content with what he had for the day, so he almost seemd to be guarding the area at the end of the afternoon more than anything.
