Does Christie have a rally in him?

Jason Christie had a limit that weighed about 9 pounds Saturday at 2 p.m., then finished with a flurry. His total for the day was 23-10, leaving him only 4-1 out of the lead.

More importantly at this point, he was less than 2 pounds behind Skeet Reese.

If Christie has another late rally left in him, he has the second-best chance of catching Reese. David Walker has the best, since he started only 2 ounces behind Reese.

Chris Lane predicted yesterday that this tournament would be won in the final hour. Christie agreed, saying, "Every day they've bit later for me."

Christie also figured out a particular lure that might be effective, but all his were left in his truck. Off-the-record he told me what that particular bait is, and I'll just say iit's no wonder he didn't have any with him in the boat. It's not a lure typically associated with this time of year on Lake Guntersville. We'll see if his theory pans out.

"These fish position minute-by-minute according to the current," Christie said.

If the current gets right, Christie might have a rally left.
