Williamson with two

Day 1 leader Jason Williamson has just two small bass in the boat. He made the 20-minute run up the Wacamaw to the marina where he put a quick limit in the boat yesterday.

But he definitely hasn’t had the water to himself. Keith Combs, Jake Whitaker, Brian Snowden and Matt Herren joined him in working over the marina’s bass.

I’m addition to Williamson’s two bass, Snowden has caught one and Whitaker said he has three.

And Herren caught on solid bass – a 3-pounder. He is the only one who didn’t start pitching plastics. Instead, he was throwing a Rogue along the banks.

“I’m going old school,” Herren jokes after boxing the fish.

Whitaker told me he expects the bite to be a lot tougher in the marina today.

“We’ve worked it over pretty hard,” he said.

Currently, Basstrakk has Williamson in second with 1-12. Client Davis has caught four keepers for an estimated 4-12, edging past Williamson to take the lead by a slim 3-ounces.
