Would you like a kolache?

Would you like a kolache? That’s the question Albert Collins asked myself and Thomas Allen this morning. To set the stage for you, Collins is the local hammer in East Texas who has made the GEICO Bassmaster Classic twice, via the Weekend Series and the B.A.S.S. Nation. We had the good fortune of Collins being our camera boat driver today. I had to ask him, what is a kolache?

He explained it’s similar to a pig in a blanket. These kolaches were purchased at a donut shop in Zavalla, Texas, and Collins explained they are filled with locally produced Renfro’s sausage. I can testify they were fantastic. Kolaches have their origins in Eastern Europe, and we’ve seen signs for them all around the Lufkin area.
