What a difference 116 degrees makes!

Jeff Gustafson always seems to be in a good mood. That was particularly the case when he came to the weigh-in stage yesterday. Why was Gustafson so happy? Well, he had a limit, but it weighed only 9-14, which was good for 41st place. Then the Keewatin, Canada, resident revealed the main reason for his smiling face. He’d spoken with his wife, Shelby, who noted it was minus 36 degrees Celsius at home. So if we do the math, minus 36 Celsius equates to minus 32.8 degrees Fahrenheit. Let’s round that to minus 33 degrees. The high temperature in Palatka, Fla., was 83 degrees Thursday. So, yeah, what a difference 116 degrees makes!

“I told my marshal I was hot,” Gustafson said Thursday. He’s “hot” today as well. Gustafson caught a 5-pound, 8-ounce bass at 10:36. He’s got 17 pounds today, which has him in 12th place at 12:45 p.m.
