Two identical days at Lake Guntersville

For all the talk about the increased boat traffic and fishing pressure on a late June weekend, Lake Guntersville fished almost the same Saturday as it did Friday for the 75 Bassmaster Elite Series anglers in the Academy Sports + Outdoors tournament.

As you can see in the chart below, the average weight of the bass brought to the scales dropped a bit – from 3.27 pounds Friday to 3.06 pounds Saturday. And the number of 20-pound bags fell considerably – from 14 to 6. But Kelley Jaye’s total of 24-12 and Ray Hanselman’s 24-1 easily topped Paul Mueller’s 22-14 big bag on Day 1. Four more fish were weighed Saturday and 69 limits were caught vs. 67 on Friday.

As expected, the top 35 two-day cut mark was congested. Garrett Paquette was the last man in with 31-10. Frank Talley was the first man out – in 36th place – with 31-7.
