Gerald Swindle started the Championship Monday morning of the Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Neely Henry in fourth place, but it didn’t take long for him to make a move.
Starting about a quarter-mile downstream of Coosa Landing takeoff, Swindle posted up on a stretch of Water Willow and tossed a white swim jig through the rooty “Coosa River Grass” that lines the shores of Neely Henry.
He is retrieving the jig by swimming it and shaking it “Alabama Style” from a third of the way into the grass out through the outside edge.
The approach has put a quick limit of chunky Neely Henry largemouth in the boat for close to 10 pounds by 7:20 this fine morning.
