Rain or shine

Steve Kennedy found Josh Stracner near his second stopping spot, fishing slightly offshore as Kennedy headed to the docks. When he eventually decided to leave the pocket behind, fish started busting, but he refused to move in on Stracner’s water. Stop number three was unoccupied, but another competitor drove by and his flotilla brought with it substantial boat wakes. That’s making the bite tough. Kennedy has had some 2-pounders swipe at his smaller lure, but they won’t grab it.

He’s committed to the dock pattern, but could use some sun to move the bass toward the bank and position them in ambush spots. Contrary to what he’d like, we have cloud cover and a fine mist in the air.

Obviously, he doesn’t know what BassTrakk is showing, but intellectually he must be aware that many of his colleagues have limits. That drops him down the leaderboard, at least temporarily. It takes discipline to continue doing what he’s doing. Yesterday it paid off bigtime in the afternoon. He’s one of the few who reliably walks the “if you’re not first, you’re last” mantra.
