Powroznik vs. Kennedy; Lefebre vs. Jaye

After fishing the morning session on Day 1, it’s three hours of afternoon fishing for Jacob Powroznik vs. Steve Kennedy and Dave Lefebre vs. Kelley Jaye. Powroznik had the biggest limit of all eight Classic Bracket competitors yesterday (13-7) and starts with a 1-pound, 14-ounce advantage over Kennedy, who caught the biggest bass of the tournament so far, a 4-pound, 3-ounce smallmuth on his first cast Tuesday.

Lefebre (12-13) has a 3-pound, 10-ounce advantage over Jaye (9-3). Lefebre landed a buzzer-beating 3 1/2-pound largemouth yesterday. It cleared his boat gunnel, as required by the rules, with two seconds left.

Pokegama Lake looks considerably different than it did during most of the morning session, which was overcast. Now it’s mostly sunny with lots of puffy cumulus clouds. The thermometer reads 64 degrees, there’s a west wind of 9 miles per hour, and it’s absolutely gorgeous on Pokegama Lake, where the maple trees are providing a backdrop painted in early fall colors.
