Powroznik officially in practice mode

Jacob Powroznik just made a move to check out another spot. Before he started his outboard and headed in that direction, he gave a sly look to the “Bassmaster LIVE” camera and said, “I’m going to bend my hook down though, see if I can get a couple of bites.”

Nothing signals practice mode like bent hooks. Powroznik’s lead over Steve Kennedy is 14 pounds, 7 ounces, and Kennedy has yet to get on the scorecard with a keeper this afternoon.

Powroznik was pleasantly surprised in the first hour this afternoon by the action on a deep school of largemouth bass that he’d found on Monday’s practice day. He thought the overcast conditions this morning might have been more productive for him.

“Evidently, those deeper fish need a little sunshine,” Powroznik said. “I know it’s a definite school. Tomorrow I’ll sit there and beat on them. I’ve got three places like that, where they’re wadded up.”
