Less than an hour into this session, Jacob Powroznik and Dave Lefebre are already thinking about tomorrow. Both have big leads – 14 pounds in Lefebre’s case, and almost 14 for Powroznik. And, by the rules, they have that information, unlike in a normal Elite Series format.
“There’s a lot of strategy in this game,” Lefebre said. “And it’s so new to us, we’re learning as we go. You’ve got to kind of pace yourself. I want to lay back. I’ve just got to decide when it’s safe.”
This is a four-day event, like an Elite Series tournament, but it’s totally different because you have to survive and advance in one-on-one matchups to make it into the semifinals and finals.
Powroznik has already moved off of his “juice.” Lefebre might not be far behind.
