Pipkens credits good luck charm – again

Chad Pipkens hit a dry spell just after 8 o’clock this morning. He was one bass shy of a limit at 10:30, and he was feeling the urge to change the area where he’d caught most of 39-7 the past two days, which had put him in 7th place. Then his good luck charm showed up.

“Thank you Mr. Brandon Palaniuk,” Pipkens yelled after landing a bass that appeared to weigh close to 6 pounds. “I was getting ready to leave, and I’m like, no, Brandon’s here. I’ve got to give it another 15 or 20 minutes.”

From his boat several yards away, Palaniuk noted, “That’s three days in a row now.”

That big bass renewed Pipkens’ confidence in this area, where he’s been catching them on a Chatterbait. And it has him in second place in the BassTrakk unofficial standings as the noon hour approaches.
