It hasn’t been easy on Santee Cooper this week, but Bernie Schultz has a lot of experience fishing lakes that are like the Low Country gem. Schultz started Day 1 below the bubble. He was 41st with 12-8, but in the Angler of the Year standings he’s above the bubble sitting in 40th. He’s certainly in position to make his first Classic since 2016.
Schultz’s fifth keeper on Day 2 was the bite he needed, a 5 pounder. He landed it on the trusty wacky-rigged Gary Yamamoto Senko.
