New makes crucial cull

Elite rookie Bryan New told me he needed to get rid of a 2-pounder when I pulled up to cover him about 45 minutes ago.

He just dropped that smallest bass back into the St. Johns River after caching a 4-pounder flipping vegetation on the main river.

“It said I had 18-2 (before that cull),” New said of his cull system. “Now it says I have 19-11.”

His weight keeps him squarely in the mix, edging ahead of Cliff Prince for the fourth spot on the leaderboard, according to BASSTrakk.
