Mullins practicing for Day 3?

David Mullins had one keeper at noon yesterday before figuring out the bite on Pickwick Lake. He finished with a limit weighing 16-12, which tied him for 22nd place with Tyler Rivet. He’s expanded on what he learned yesterday to the point that he started practice fishing for Day 3 at 9:30 this morning, or so he says.

“It’s gonna take a pretty good fish for me to cull right now,” Mullins said on “Bassmaster LIVE Mix.”Today we’re putting a beatdown on them pretty good.”

Mullins’ total on BassTrakk is “only” 15-11, indicating that he’s, uh, well, let’s just say he’s probably sand-bagging like a big dog. Mullins mentioned that he’s from the headwaters of the Tennessee River, where this time of year the bass don’t act like the bass in Pickwick Lake.

“These fish want to be in current,” said the Mt. Carmel, Tenn., angler. “That’s totally different than what we deal with back home. It took me all day yesterday to learn it.”
