It was about 10:30 this morning when Paul Mueller put a 3-pounder in the livewell and said, “They’ve got to get bigger. But you’ve got to get bit too, and we’re starting to get bit.”
The “getting bit” hasn’t stopped and, yes, the smallmouth bass Mueller is catching have gotten bigger. Mueller added a 4-12, a 5-0 and a 4-12 from 11:26 to 12:19.
“Now we’re getting there,” he said after weighing the last one. “Now we’re having a good day.”
Unofficially both Mueller and Chris Johnston have crossed the 50-pound mark on the second day of the SiteOne Bassmaster Elite at the St. Lawrence River.
