Most level playing field ever?

Kevin VanDam knows a thing or two after 25 world championships with four of those wins. Here is what he said this morning.

“This could be the most level playing field ever.”

The reasons are notable. The biggest is the 16-inch minimum. Elsewhere in the Blog the facts tell why. The bare miminum size fish are healthy–averaging 3 pounds or better–so weights will need to be heavier than normal to stay in contention.

Another reason is what VanDam calls a top nuance of Lake Conroe.

“It’s a unique lake, not a huge population of bass but there are big ones in it.”

He continued, “Here it’s hard to be consistent and catching a consistent limit will be tough. Anybody who can be consistently and then add a good 20-pound day to the catch will be a contender.”

VanDam added that we’ll see some guys struggle one day and blow it out the next. That boom and bust cycle happened last November when I was here for the B.A.S.S. Nation Championship. So stay tuned for more.
