More than a competition for Clouse

Tough day so far for Gary Clouse. The Elite Series pro from Winchester, Tennessee has two keepers in the boat at the moment and is grinding away for keeper bites. It’s been a series of rod and bait changes throughout the day so far looking for that one bite that’s going to turn into a pattern of sorts. That hasn’t happened as of yet.

One thing’s for certain. Clouse has a passion for fishing and competing at the highest level. In addition being an Elite Series pro, Clouse serves as the President of Phoenix Boats; however, don’t be fooled. He’s not out here riding around selling boats. He’s competing his tail off today and fighting through some intense pain in his back and shoulder to do so.

As a Marshal, fan of the sport and a recreational angler that loves all things fishing, the lessons I’ve learned so far today on the water will not only help me become a better angler, but I’ll be better in my professional life from this experience today whether we bring these two bass with us back to McFarland Park or a 28 pound bag.

Someone once told me that, “Who you are when it’s inconvenient is who you are.” I’ve been reminded of that lesson today and I’m better for it.

Thank you Mr. Clouse!
