Moment of agony for Wes Logan

After a short stop on Brock Mosley to congratulate him on the birth of his daughter we’ve moved over to spend some time on Wes Logan.

Mosley is having a great day. Logan is just having a decent day at the moment. BASSTrakk has him with 9 pounds. But he’s telling us he has more like 13 pounds. That would put him in the top 20. But won’t likely keep him there.

Logan is another of our rookies. He’s on his first trip to this part of the world. While he’s not kicking down the door he is easing into this Elite world nicely.

I typed those words and saw him set the hook out of the corner of my eye. Then saw a giant clear the surface by three feet. Logan let out a yell.

A lengthy battle followed. Logan got the fish to the side of the boat and reached for it. But one last wiggle and the fish came off.

He’s still sitting in his boat dejected. His hat laying on his deck where he took it off in frustration.

He has every right to feel that way. My boat driver estimated the fish to be close to 6 pounds.

Those fish hurt wherever you are. For Logan it would have ushered in an opportunity to jump up the leaderboard and continue to establish himself as one of the hottest young guns on tour.

As it is he’s having to deal with another mainstay of Elite Series life, moments of agony. How he fights through this will be worth watching for someone who makes a living at watching the progression of anglers as they stride toward the top levels.
