Our Day 1 leader is Cliff Prince with 19 pounds 13 ounces of Lake Martin bass. That’s truly a monster bag on this Alabama reservoir. Just in case you don’t know much about Prince I’d like to fill you in.
This is his 86th Bassmaster tournament and he’s collected more than $311,000 in earnings from those tournaments.
The pro from Palatka, Fla. is now in his seventh Elite season. Prince has made two GEICO Bassmaster Classics presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods. In 2017 the 48-year-old finished 70th in the Toyota Angler of the Year race.
Prince has 24 top 30 B.A.S.S. Tournament Trail finishes, including a third-place spot at the Elite tournament on Lake Okeechobee in 2017. And he was the runner-up at the 2009 Southern Open on Santee Cooper. Prince was successful at competitive youth rodeo during his high school days and still enjoys the sport today. His hobbies also include hunting, saltwater fishing, and family.
He and wife Kelley have two kids, Gracie Caryn and Syler Lane.
