BASSTrakk shows Matt Lee in a familiar place. That is inside the cut for Championship Sunday. There is none at the Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year Championship, but his strong season performance is the key.
Matt Lee has three Championship Sunday appearances this season. Those happened on equally as diverse fisheries. Toledo Bend (12th place), Lake Dardanelle (8th) and the St. Lawrence River (5th).
The unofficial AOY standings have Lee in 21st place going into this tournament. Should he maintain his momentum a first Classic appearance since his only other championship is on the way. That happened in 2013, the year he qualified through the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series presented by Bass Pro Shops.
“What I’m looking for are the quality bites, the fish weighing 4 pounds or more,” he said to me this morning.
So far, so good.
