Luck plays a part

Scott Canterbury commented earlier on the finer aspects of luck. Luck does play a part in this game.

I give you two examples. Canterbury was referring to Stetson Blaylock’s good fortune of pulling up to virtually the same area he was fishing.

While Canterbury was catching small ones, Blaylock was smoking the big ones.

“That’s just crazy luck there,” Canterbury said.

But it was repaid to Canterbury minutes later when he set the hook on a 4-pound plus largemouth.

Canterbury kneeled down to lip the fish. And as soon as he put his hands in the fish’s mouth, his lure came out.

A half-second later and bad luck would have ruled the day for our current AOY leader. But a grab that was right on time has kept him in the hunt.

What is it that saying about “rather be lucky than good?”

In this game, at this level, it pays to be both.
