Justin Lucas put his fifth keeper in the boat about 8:15. It’s a small limit, but it’s a confidence-building start.
“It’s only going to get better as the day goes on,” Lucas said on “Bassmaster LIVE.” “The morning bite has been tough.”
The intensity on Lucas’ face at yesterday’s anglers’ meeting was obvious. He REALLY wants to close out this Toyota Angler of the Year race. He’s been on an amazing run with four straight top 12 finishes.
“I’m really ready to go fishing,” Lucas said. “I haven’t fished since the day after the St. Lawrence River until the first day of practice here. I’m ready to get out there, get some bites and get settled in.”
That’s exactly what he’s done in the first hour today.
