Lowdown on Lester

Three hours into the final day of Bassmaster Classic practice and Brandon Lester has had a solid day so far. Lester’s goal was to dial in his areas a little bit more and maybe expand on some uncertainties. He has thrown a lot of practice baits today. Practice baits are those with cut off or rolled up hooks just to avoid hooking every fish that bites.

With that being said he has landed two fish on non-test lures and was pleased with it. He’s probably gotten eight bites today.

Lester doesn’t get too high or low about the fishing or conditions. He’s been even keel today and is fishing at a good pace. I asked him if any of the water this week reminded him of his home lake of Tims Ford.

“No, it really reminds me of a Wheeler Lake just a couple lakes down the Tennessee River system.”

Lester started the day with six or seven rods on deck, but is now up to 11. He believes the winning weight will be in the 53-54 pound range for three days.

“I don’t think someone will catch 20 pounds a day, but they may catch it one day and scare it some the other days. Just under 18 pounds a day is my thought.”
