Logan takes the lead with 3 3/4-pounder

While he’s only 26 years old, Wes Logan has as much experience on Neely Henry Lake as any angler in this field. It’s the lake where he and his father fished more tournaments than any other. Maybe that experience is paying off, or maybe it’s just persistence. Logan finally caught his fifth keeper of the day just before 1 o’clock, and it was another good one, a 3 3/4-pounder to go with the 5 1/4-pound big bass of the day caught at 11:15 a.m. Both came on a crankbait, but he made a long run to another area of the lake between the two big catches.

There have only been two other bags of 16 pounds or more caught in this event. Both were on Day 1, Brock Mosley’s 16-15 and Bryan New’s 16-7. Wes Logan now has the third with an unofficial 16-6. He’s in first place with a three-day total of 42-15.
