Dave Lefebre admitted not wanting to talk much about how he’s taking advantage of the shad spawn on Ross Barnett. But he did offer some interesting observations.
“The shad are spawning everywhere,” Lefebre said. “It’s not like you need to go looking for them. They’re EVERY-WHERE. They’re on the rocks, obviously. They’re on the boat docks in the marinas. But they’re in the (lily) pads too.
“They’re underwater. Usually you’re looking for them visually. But I can feel them underwater. I’m not triggering my fish with a spinnerbait. But if you did, they’d be tapping your blades the whole way back to the boat.
“That’s what I found on Wednesday (during the final day of practice). That’s why I didn’t have to go to typical shad spawn areas. They’re spawning everywhere.”
