Late morning with Queen

KJ Queen has filled out his limit and his last two catches have provided him with small upgrades. Queen has five in his Nitro Livewells that go just north of seven pounds.

The Catawba (NC) native has committed to the crankbait and has been burning it along rip rap banks and deep rocky banks. It appears that Queen is getting a reaction strike to his burning the crankbait or so it seems to him. At any rate, he’s committed to it.

There’s a number of Elite Series Pro’s in this general area and they all seem to be rotating among each other’s area. So far, we’ve seen 8-10 guys rotate through this general vicinity.

Queen came into today sitting second in the Rookie of the Year standings and has enjoyed a solid year so far. The rookie indicated to me earlier that Guntersville (the next stop on the Bassmaster Elite Series) is among his favorite lakes going back to college which means Queen is no doubt looking forward to the next derby before heading North this summer.

With a solid bag in the works today and a better than average chance to fish on Day 3 here at Neely Henry, Queen can’t afford to look ahead just yet with valuable ROY points to gain here.
