I just called Steve Kennedy to ask him, 1) if he was watching “Bassmaster LIVE,” and 2) if so, was he throwing up? The answer to both questions was, “Yes.” Kennedy is on his way back to Alabama, but he hasn’t missed much of what’s happening on Pokegama Lake today.
He’s seen where Ish Monroe has been sacking smallmouth on a swimbait lately, including the 5-pound, 1-ounce bass that topped the 4-3 Kennedy caught there on Day 1. Kennedy noted that today’s southeast wind blowing at about 9 miles-an-hour is the perfect set up for this spot.
“That wind puts their nose right in the current,” Kennedy said, noting there’s a shallow lip in this bowl of an area where the bass will hold under these conditions.
“I knew I was touching it,” he said, in general, of this pattern. “But I didn’t get it dialed in.”
