Johnston goes light

Chris Johnston has already slipped eight notches down the leaderboard this morning, but he does not seem in any hurry to catch a fish.

Johnston was fourth at the end of the weigh-in yesterday but he has not boated a keeper so far today. His first stop downlake did not pay off, and the second produced a short fish.

Now Johnston is tying on a new rig, and it seems to take him forever. I can’t tell what it is from here but it seems to be a complicated rig to tie — perhaps a drop shot. Whatever it is, he’s throwing it on light tackle.

The fish seem to like the new offering. A minute ago, he got on the boards with a small keeper bass.
