I’m a travelin’ man

Traveling with Bassmaster lends itself for us to see some really interesting things. This morning we ran into a fella named George Sperry; and he is certainly an antique boat connoisseur.

His 1930 canoe caught my eye as we were launching; so I just had to go over and find out some history. The canoe was purchased a few years ago at the Antique Boat Auction which is held every year at the Antique Boat Museum located in Clayton, New York. It has been completely restored and Mr. Sperry enjoys getting her out on the water where she belongs as often as possible.

The original deck of the canoe is actually hanging over the bar at the Clipper Inn, which has a slightly nautical theme. The boat was actually built for fishing. The sport would sit at the stern the guide would sit at the bow.
