Hudnall’s crazy catch

Derek Hudnall is throwing a Missile Baits “The 48” Worm, rigged wacky style, in a labyrinth of cypress trees that remind him of his swampy home waters. He’s made it feel just like Louisiana, and then some.

After telling Andy Crawford that a big bass could bite on any cast, it did. Hudnall set the hook, the fish broke the surface, and came off. After getting over his moment of frustration, Hudnall re-rigged and made a cast back to precisely the same spot. And the fish bite again, this time coming aboard.

He entered its weight in BASSTrakk at 7.5 pounds. And what you see in the photo is the giant and the cull it replaced. A good cull, indeed. BASSTrakk has him with 18 pounds for 2nd place.

“I think he went light,” said Andy. “It could be more like 20 pounds.”
