Harris Chain vs. St. Johns – Day 1

First of all, this comparison isn’t intended to be a statement of which Florida bass fishery is better than the other. It’s simply a comparison of how the 94 Elite Series anglers performed on these particular days, and maybe give a hint about where the SiteOne Bassmaster Elite at the Harris Chain is headed over the next three days.

As you can see in the chart below, the St. Johns River has the Day 1 superlatives – heavier five-bass limit and a larger big bass. But the Harris Chain stands out as you move down the standings and particularly when comparing how many limits were caught.

The two-day cut at 47th place looks to be tight, tight, tight at the conclusion of today’s weigh-in. Drew Benton and Greg DiPalma are tied for 47th place with 13 pounds, 11 ounces. Twenty-two anglers, almost a quarter of the field, are within a pound of 13-11, either above or below it.
