Buddy Gross was the first angler to boat a limit on Day 1 of the AFTCO Bassmaster Elite Series at St. John’s River.
“It happened so fast,” said Gross. Boats were still running past Gross as he was boating his quick limit.
Gross is fishing a small shell bar just off the main River. Most of his damage has been done with a lipless crankbait but he’s rotated through several lures in a short period of time.
Rather than constantly fishing the small shell bar, Gross has moved up to the shallow vegetation periodically to give these fish a rest.
Gross has culled up to about 14 pounds even since we have been watching.
